Chuck Pelly
nationality: American
Chuck Pelly is a 40-year veteran of the design industry. He is the founder and former President of Designworks/USA, which is one of the world's best industrial design offices and BMW's U.S. design studio. DesignworksUSA is one of the top 10 design consultancies in the world and has won numerous awards for innovative product and automotive design, being instrumental in the design of the BMW X5, the Z4 and the award-winning BMW 3 Series.
Chuck is also cofounder with Joan Gregor of The Design Academy Inc, a multidisciplinary consulting group. dedicated to applying design and creative knowledge to corporations, educational institutions and organizations. Pelly continues to consult on projects for Nokia Design, Magna International, LA Auto Show, BMW Group, Lotosland Design Workshop, Lightolier, New Zealand Trade, as well as others.

Chuck has been awarded more than 40 U.S. and foreign patents, has received numerous awards for his work, has taught and lectured broadly, served on many boards, has been President of the Industrial Design Society of America, and an IDSA Fellow since 1994. Chuck has also been involved with the Art Center College of Design since 1968 and has received their George Jergenson Design Achievement award for his significant contribution.
In his distinctive career, Chuck has received over 50 awards of distinction, including the Eyes on Design Lifetime Achievement Award for car design, and has been nominated four times for the Lifetime Achievement Award and for the Design Mind Award for excellence, innovation and enhancement of the quality of life by the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
