here comes the idea of our name: lotoscomehome. the close observation of 'nostalgia' revealed me one day, that by separating it into two parts, the first part 'nost' would resemble 'nostos', which in Greek means 'return' and the second part 'algia' 'algos', which pretty much stands for 'agony' in the same language. And hence, the face value of the definition of 'nostalgia' occurred to me the pain people suffer when they know they want but they can't go back in time or a certain place they desire for. i remember my friend used to tell me when driving on the autostrada somewhere in Roma, that in that city they change nothing but the name of the streets.
meanwhile I was wistfully recalling the city I live where people constantly get lost in the rapidity of the change. Here and there a construction site appears from magician's pocket and before you know what you're once acquainted becomes history, found only in photos you take with DC and store in laptop. memories nowadays are weighed only by bit. i ran in the middle of the night, inhaling the icy, damp air smells like waste emission. I was happy for the sole sensation of running fast. I knew that by no means could I catch up with anything. The city is abandoning me, leaving me together with my sentimental nostalgia for old-fashioned romanticism. Warm light, scent letter paper with hand-written poem, cotton handkerchief, dilapidated bicycle, curled fingers that make shadows on the wall, movies in the cinema, bed-time stories told by a young girl to her lover in the dark. but, alas, the clouds of the shape of elephant just don't come here anymore. i thought that was pretty much why I built up lotoscomehome, something like a masturbatory recreation. A backyard for all the ghosts of dream. A playground of memories and stories and a fortress where the poem of life stays safe. lotoscomehome's culturally eclectic design team all share the same obsession: to push the envelope on design and make people friendly inspiring designs from the finest quality materials. understanding and meeting the diverse needs and desires of people in a hectic modern world is what drives us.
